DreamSerene™ Frequently Asked Questions
Is it recommended that I wash my mattress and pillow protector before I put them on my bed? Yes, because the fabric is starched for easier cutting during production. Therefore, washing will remove the starch. Which side should be visible when my mattress protector is placed on my mattress? The side that is cotton top and absorbent should be visible when placed on the mattress. At what temperature should I wash my mattress and pillow protectors? DreamSerene™ products should be washed with hot water. Can I dry my mattress and pillow protector in the dryer? Yes, you can tumble dry your mattress and pillow protector at low 40º C/104º F and always dry together with other linens. Can I dry clean my mattress and pillow protector? No, chemicals used when dry cleaning will destroy the Wet Block Technology™ barrier. Can I use bleach when I wash my mattress protector? No, because the bleaching process will destroy the Wet Block Technology™ barrier. Can I hang my mattress protector out in the sun to dry? Yes, you may hang your mattress protector out to dry, do not expose directly to sun. Can I iron my mattress protector? No, do not iron your mattress protector because it could damage the Wet Block Technology™ barrier. Does the skirt need to go directly under the mattress? No, as long as the four corners of the mattress protector are secure. Are the sides of the mattress protector covered under warranty? Warranties for the DreamSerene™ mattress protector cover the sleeping surface (also referred to as the top of the mattress). Please see the terms of the warranty for further details. Will the mattress protector protect me against dust mites? Yes, the mattress protector will protect you against dust mites because our Wet Block Technology barrier does not allow dust mite feces to penetrate though. The size of the feces particle is larger than the pore of the Wet Block Technology barrier. What is Wet Block Technology? Wet Block Technology is a revolutionary polyurethane barrier film that provides stain, waterproof, and allergen protection to your mattress. Will the mattress protector protect my mattress from stains? Yes, Wet Block Technology is designed to prevent liquid from penetrating through the mattress protector. Therefore, it will protect your mattress from getting stained. My cat urinated on my bed, no liquid or stains got through my mattress protector, however there is a strong smell of urine. Why? The mattress protector is designed to be impermeable to liquids but permeable to gasses and vapours. Therefore if the smell of the urine gets into the mattress, it might penetrate the barrier and permeate the mattress. Just use a readily available odour eliminator, and this should solve your problem. What do I do if I spill something on my mattress protector? Machine wash using warm/hot water and tumble dry at medium temperature as quickly as possible after spillage, preferably while still fresh and wet. Why does my mattress protector has brown scuff marks on the Wet Block Technology barrier? This means the product has been subjected to excessive heat. This is not covered by the DreamSerene™ warranty. My mattress protector has bubbles or blistering appearing on the Wet Block Technology barrier. The temperature settings on your tumble dryer are set above the normal temperature causing the Wet Block Technology™ barrier to soften and pull away from the cotton comfort layer. This is not covered by the DreamSerene™ warranty. The Wet Block Technology has changed colour over time. Will this affect the integrity of the protector? No, the discolouration of the Wet Block Technology barrier is a normal occurrence. It might be more pronounced depending on exposure to light, water and body acidity. This is considered normal wear and tear as far as our warranty is concerned.

What is the difference between form fit and relaxed fit slipcovers? A form fit slipcover uses stretchy fabrics to create a more form fitting appearance. Relaxed fit fabrics do not contain any stretch to give a more relaxed, casual look. What sizes of slipcovers are available? Caber SureFit™ slipcovers are available in various sizes: Chair, Loveseat, Sofa, Recliner, Wingback, Parsons Chair and Dining Chairs. Our unique slipcover constructions are designed to fit many types and sizes of furniture. Choosing a size is easy, simply determine how many people can be comfortably seated on your furniture. If your furniture seats 1 person, we recommend a Chair size. If your furniture seats 2-3 people, we recommend a Loveseat size. If your furniture seats 3 or more people, we recommend a Sofa size. If you are measuring your furniture, simply measure from arm-to-arm and choose the correct size from our chart. What types of furniture do your slipcovers fit? Our slipcovers fit most upholstered furniture with arms. Some of our covers fit furniture with T-shaped seat cushions and square cushions, high arms and low arms, sofa beds and leather furniture - we even fit today's overstuffed styles with loose pillows. As a rule, our slipcovers DO NOT fit chaises and loveseats or sofas with built-in recliners. A 1-piece slipcover can fit over existing furniture, whether it has removable cushions or not. A 2-piece slipcover comes with two separate pieces: one piece for the body of the furniture and one piece for the removable bench (also called 'seat cushions'). First, measure your furniture to determine the width. Then, find out if your seat cushion is a square or a ‘T’. The beauty of a 2-piece slipcover is that it gives you the option of installing it in a variety of ways and gives a custom upholstered appearance: To install.... - 1-Piece: Use just 1 pc for the entire body.
- 2-Piece T-Cushion: First, remove the seat cushions. Then, select the slipcover with the tags labeled ‘Arm’, ‘Centre Front’ and ‘Centre Back’ and place it over the entire body of your furniture. The ‘Center Front’ label should sit at the front base and in the center of your furniture. Finally, insert your cushions into the bench cap slipcover and place it back onto the furniture.
- 2-piece Box-Cushion: First, remove the seat cushions. Then, select the slipcover with the tags labeled ‘Arm’, ‘Centre Front’ and ‘Centre Back’ and place it over the entire body of the furniture. The ‘Center Front’ label should sit at the centre front at the base of your furniture. Finally, insert the cushions into the bench cap slipcover and place it back onto the furniture. Make sure the part of the slipcover with the ‘T’ is placed back onto the furniture. Tuck accordingly to create a sleek appearance.
A 2-piece slipcover is the most versatile. It can accommodate 1-piece furniture, 2-piece furniture with T-cushion or 2-piece furniture with a square cushion. Slipcover Styling Tips: Wooden Arms - Wrap inexpensive polyester batting from a fabric or craft store on the arms to pad them. Secure with string or velcro. They will be completely hidden under your slipcover. Leather Furniture - We suggest that you use non-skid carpet grip on the furniture which can be found in department or carpet stores. This helps prevent the cover from sliding on the slippery surface. Sofa Beds - Use your slipcover as you would on a regular sofa. You do have to partially remove the cover before opening up the bed. How do I place the slipcover on my furniture? As long as your furniture measurements fall within our standard requirements, simply slip your cover right over the furniture and the pillows. You may have to adjust the pillows by overlapping them or removing a pillow or two depending on the look you want to achieve. Click here to see find the right fit for you. Will slipcovers fit sofa beds? When closed, sofa beds are just like regular sofas. This means you can use Caber SureFit™ slipcovers on a double or queen sized sofa bed. Simply refer to the size chart to determine what size cover you need. You must remove the cover to open the sofa bed. If you have a slipcover with a straight skirt design, you need only lift up the skirt in order to open the couch. Will slipcovers fit Camel Back furniture? Our slipcovers will fit camel back furniture as long as it falls within our standard measurements. The height measurement from the front of the sofa on the floor over the seat, up and over the back, and down to the floor again should measure 114" or less at the highest point. We recommend using our Stretch fabric products. Will slipcovers fit chairs that are smaller than the standard measurements? If your chair is smaller than our standard measurement of 37" to 43" in width, you may be able to use the chair slipcovers. The cover will be large but the more you tuck, the better it will stay in place. If the arms are too thin, you can use foam batting to stuff the arm under the slipcover. Will slipcovers fit an oversized sofa? We do not manufacture covers for sofas over 88" long. Can I use slipcovers on leather furniture? You can cover your leather sofa seat with pieces of carpet grip underneath the slipcover to prevent the cover from sliding. Will slipcovers fit furniture with wooden arms? Our slipcovers can be used on furniture with wooden arms. Wrap inexpensive polyester batting from a fabric or craft store on the arms to pad them before you put the cover on. What is the depth of the one-piece slipcover? The depth of the slipcover is 114" from the bottom of the front skirt to the bottom of the back skirt. Please be sure to measure your furniture at the highest point to ensure a proper fit. How can I make my dining room chair slipcovers covers fit better? If you are covering a dining room chair with a thin or wood back, try draping batting, a folded blanket, or whatever you have available over the back before you put on the cover. This will give you chairs more of an upholstered or Parson chair look. What are the measurements for the dining room chair slipcovers? What about custom covers or reupholstery? Caber SureFit™ Slipcovers offer the most value for your money. Custom Slipcovers offer great fit, but they take weeks to make and cost hundreds of dollars in fabric and labor. Reupholstery costs even more and you will be without your furniture for weeks. New furniture takes an average of 8-10 weeks to deliver and can set you back hundreds, even thousands of dollars. Compare and save big. How do ready-made slipcovers work exactly? Caber SureFit™ slipcovers are "semi-fitted." They have a loosely constructed shape with tags to easily direct you on how to install. There are three "one size fits most" sizes: chair, loveseat and sofa. Our patented design features an inner row of elastic that is completely hidden from view under your seat cushion(s) and helps keep your cover in place. We believe we have the best design on the market! Caber SureFit™ also manufactures slipcovers with separate seat covers, bench style seat covers and stretch slipcovers. Do these slipcovers really stay in place? Yes. They stay on your furniture until you decide to take them off. But they are NOT reupholstery or custom-fitted covers. The fabric on the seat cushions needs to be adjusted after several seatings. You will want to straighten your slipcover out a little every day, just as you would straighten your bed covers each morning. You do not have to take your slipcover off, just retuck and smooth the fabric. Why are the prices different? Prices vary according to size (Chair, Loveseat or Sofa) and fabric. Why buy from Caber SureFit™? We're the slipcover experts. Our patented slipcover designs are the best available anywhere - hands down. We design and create every slipcover we sell. We follow decorating trends to ensure attractive, fashionable fabrics and designs. We also listen to you, our customer to ensure we have made this product to your high standards and requirements. What is the difference between the various slipcover fabrics? While each of our fabrics has distinctive characteristics, all share the Caber SureFit™ commitment to beauty and quality. Our design team uses the most popular fabrics and patterns from the upholstery market. All our fabrics are machine washable, pass through rigorous quality controls, and, thanks to today’s fibre technology, are more luxuriously durable than ever. Our chenille slipcovers are heavyweight, soft to the touch, and lavishly textured. Our 100% cotton covers – an exquisite, year-round fabric that’s naturally soft, breathable, and retains colour wonderfully – are highly popular. Whether you prefer more formal fabrics such as damask and jacquard, or something more casual like twill or duck, rest assured that Caber SureFit™ slipcover fabrics always provide the perfect look to enrich your décor. Can I mix and match different fabrics? Yes, in fact mixing patterns and textures is a wonderful way to give a professional decorator look to any living space. Across our spectrum of fashionable options, Caber SureFit™ slipcover collections are carefully designed with coordinated colour palettes, making it easy to mix, match and populate your room with stylish collaborations. How do I choose the right slipcover? There are no hard and fast rules but we do offer some helpful hints. First, if you are happy with your current décor and simply want to cover your furniture, then consider choosing color first. Pick something that coordinates with your existing rugs, drapes, and wall color. If you're having difficulty, flip through some decorating magazines or books to see if you can find any rooms that look similar to yours. Many people opt for solid color slipcovers because they are so easy to decorate with. We recommend sticking with a solid color slipcover if you have a patterned rug for example. Many customers choose neutral colors for a clean, contemporary look. We have a slipcover for almost every style and our prices are so good, you might even consider getting more than one cover! How do I care for my slipcover? Most of Caber SureFit™ slipcovers are completely machine washable. Wash them in cold water, gentle cycle. Do not use bleach. Depending on fabric, line dry or tumble dry on low setting. Just pull the cover out of the dryer once the cycle is complete and immediately place it on the furniture to avoid wrinkles. If your cover gets wrinkled in storage, simply toss it in the dryer on low heat with a wet washcloth for ten minutes to remove the wrinkles. Washing instructions come with every cover. Will any light colored patterns cover dark furniture? Any other light coloured slipcover may need a white sheet put on your furniture before the cover is placed on it. Do the slipcovers shrink when they are washed? Our slipcovers will have a small amount of shrinkage during the first few washings. The shrinkage amount is less than 5%. As long as your furniture falls within our standard measurements, this should not affect the fit of your slipcover. How do I remove wrinkles? To avoid wrinkles after laundering, just pull the cover out of the dryer once the cycle is complete and immediately place it on the furniture. If your cover gets wrinkled in storage, simply toss it in the dryer on low heat for ten minutes to remove the wrinkles. If the cover is wrinkled while on your furniture, try spraying a mist of water on the cover with a spray bottle and pressing out the wrinkles with your hand. Do not tumble dry fabrics that have instructions to line dry.
